Hi!
Sorry, i don't speak french. Hope you will understand my english Smile
I've inherited quite big collection of french stamps and some of them i can't define. Could you please help.
It looks like #83 or #84 in Yvert catalogue, but there are some sub-types which differs in price a lot.

Good evening dear ax14d.You're lucky to get stamps. (Unlucky with dead of a member your familly)
In first sight, I can see this stamp made war......(corner, perforation...) and so it is devaluated because of second choice.
I think it is a 83 nmber Yvert. Paper for Number 84 is dark blue.
About sub-types
b: with grey paper, not case
c: with cobalt paper, neiher
d: unperforated
e:unperforated
f:unperforated
g: specimen
Neither case.
You are perhaps a bit disappointed, but keep force; and please send us other scans of different inherited stamps.
For our pleasure. And Yours?
Kindly
philippe

philippemarie, thank you for detailed response! I've expected that it is not #84 expensive stamp. The only thing that confuses me - on the back side of the stamp you can see some kind of verification signature. What's the use of making verification signature for 1$ stamp... Smile

The value may vary and be aware that " signature " aren't always authentic and sometimes are only a private signature.

The color of a scan is not significant enough. This stamp has all the characteristics of N ° 84. It seems to be type IIA and its irregular serration is common on "Prussian blue". It would probably be worth it to have it examined by an expert.
